HST pink kind of pillow cover

Today I would like to show you the project #14 on my Q1 to do list. Not a big project as it’s only a pillow cover and not really technically complicated as 64 HSTs are going to be sewn together.

Wybralam zestaw rozowawych tkanin, wiekszosc z nich z kolekcji Bazaar Style projektu Pat Bravo i pojedyncze sztuki od Lotty Jansdotter i Alison Glass.

I have selected a number of pinkish fabrics, most of them from Pat Bravo’s Bazaar Style line and some single fabrics designed by Lotta Jansdotter and Alison Glass. For the second part of half square triangles I used my current favorite – Essex Yarn Dyed in Flax. It compliments all the pinks beautifully, but somehow creating a lot of bulk and making the matching points a bit difficult to achieve.

Uzylam 8 tkanin i uszylam 8 HSTow z kazdej z nich. Nie mialam planu co do ich ulozenia. A moze plan byl taki, zeby wyprobowac rozne zestawienia i wtedy podjac decyzje, ktory z nich podoba mi sie najbardziej. Wyprobowalam wiele opcji, na zdjeciach widac trzy z nich:

I used 8 fabrics and made 8 HSTs of each of them. I didn’t have a plan how to set them together. Or maybe my plan was just to try different layouts and then decide which one I like most. I have tried several options, on the pictures you can see 3 different ones:

  1. 4 podobne trojkaty na polu kwadratu zestawione razem (na zdjeciu powyzej i zblizenie na ponizszym) – podobalo mi sie, ale chcialam zeby rozlozenie bylo troche bardziej przypadkowe / 4 similar HSTs set together (shown on the picture above and a bit closer look on the picture below) – I liked it, but wanted to try to add some randomness…

2. Przypadkowy uklad (a przynajmniej jego proba) nie zrobil na mnie oczekiwanego wrazenia. Ciagle poszukiwalam czegos innego – moze troche wiecej symetrii… / The random layout (or at least attempt) didn’t make expected impression on me. I was still looking for something else – maybe a bit more symmetry…

3. Wiec ponizej wersja ostateczna – ukosne paski zlozone z podobnych trojkatow. Zdecydowanie moja ulubione wersja. Chociaz nie jestem pewna, czy wybralabym ja znow, gdybym mogla zmienic zdanie… / And here is the final version – stripes of half square triangles. Definitely the one I liked most. However I’m in doubt if I would choose it again if I could change my mind…

Zamierzam zachowac ten rozklad bez dalszego rozmyslania o innych mozliwosciach. Inne mozliwosci zatrzymam dla przyszlych projektow.

I’m going to keep this layout anyway without further thinking about other possibilities. Let’s keep considering possible designs for the new coming projects.

  1. With HST you could probably keep going and come up with three new arrangements everyday! I would tend to agree with you on the random layout, and think that the first or the third layouts are the nicest. The first might even be my favorite… will you be bringing this to Germany with you? Look forard to meeting on Saturday!

  2. Hey, sorry for stopping by so late… I love all the layouts. They are just so different so you can’t really compare them and one always as to go with the gut to decide. Did I tell you I hate deciding?
