Arabian Nights in Teal – first blocks ready / pierwsze bloki gotowe

Bardzo dawno temu pisalam o tym quilcie. Poza scena (blogiem) powoli zszywalam moje cwiartki. I w koncu mam pierwsze trzy bloki gotowe (3 z 20). Gotowe i skontrolowane pod wzgledem jakosci. I zatwierdzone!

It’s been a really long time since the last update regarding this quilt. Behind the scene I was slowly getting my quarter-circles done. I got some issues with the teal solid framing the blocks, as my first choice turned out not to be the one. But luckily I managed to order Kona in Teal Blue. And now the first 3 blocks (out of 20) are pieced together. Pieced and gone through quality check. Approved!

Zgadzam sie, to zajmuje troche czasu.

I don’t consider myself as an experienced quilter, but I have got some thoughts, maybe even some advices regarding the process of piecing curves. The first one is to trim and square your quarter-circles before sewing them together into rows and blocks. I agree, it takes time. But it also save a lot of time spent on aligning and correcting the seams in order to get nice points. Trimming helped me to get the points as below without almost any effort, isn’t it wonderful?

Po drugie, zaprasowywanie szwow w przeciwnych kierunkach rowniez pomoga w osiagnieciu tychze pasujacych punktow. Szczegoly mozecie znalezc w tutorialu przygotowanym przez Adrianne z On the Windy Side.

The second thing that helps with matching the points is to press the seams opposite directions. For details please have a look at the video tutorial made by Adrianne from On the Windy Side showing how to press seams in order to get the squares to meet nicely and have the quilt top nice and flat.

Jako ze musze sie dodatkowo zmotywowac, zeby skonczyc ten top, bedzie to moj pazdziernikowy cel (20 blokow zszytych razem, bez ramki) w A Lovely Year of Finishes 2015, ktorego gospodyniami sa Shanna z Fiber of All Sorts i Melissa z Sew BitterSweet Designs.

I see that I need some extra motivation to get this quilt top done, therefore I’m making a quilt top (20 blocks sewn together to be precise, without the border) my October goal in A Lovely Year of Finishes 2015, hosted by Shanna from Fiber of All Sorts and Melissa from Sew BitterSweet Designs.
