Nowy dzien, nowe wyzwanie – Millefiore Quilt Along / New day, new challenge – The New Hexagon Millefiore Quilt Along

Katja z Katja’s Quilt Shoppe rozpoczela Millefiore Quilt Along w styczniu. Quilt Along polega na uszyciu quiltu skladajacego sie z 15 rozetek w ciagu 2015 roku. Co miesiac instrukcje kolejnych rozetek sa publikowane. Quilt sklada sie z 52 roznych blokow szesciokatnych z ksiazki Katji: The New Hexagon – 52 Blocks to English Paper Piece. Uwielbiam te recznie szyte rozetki, jak i wyzwania, dlatego sie wlaczylam do zabawy. Czesc mojej rozetki numer 1 ponizej.

Katja from Katja’s Quilt Shoppe started a Millefiore Quilt Along already in January. The idea is to finish the quilt made of 15 rosettes by the end of this year. Each month the instructions for new rosettes are published. The quilt is based on the 52 different hexagon blocks from Katja’s book: The New Hexagon – 52 Blocks to English Paper Piece. I love those paper pieced rosettes as well as I like challenges, therefore I signed in. You can see the part of my rosette #1 below.

HST – ciag dalszy / HST – continued

Z przyjemnoscia pracuje w wolnym relaksujecym tempie, mimo ze jestem dosyc niecierpliwa i wynikow oczekuje niespokojnie. Wszystkie 160 HST sa gotowe do zszywania i razem z 48 granatowymi kwadratami stworza calkiem niezlych rozmiarow quilt – 58,5″ x 72″. 13 kolumn i 16 rzedow.

I enjoy working at the slow and relaxing pace, even though I’m pretty impatient and looking forward to the results. All 160 half-square triangles are finished and ready to be sewn and together with 48 navy squares will give pretty good size quilt – 58,5″ x 72″.13 columns times 16 rows. The pattern is called Selkie (Fons & Porter). You can find a tutorial explaining how to make this quilt as well as how to make 8 HSTs at a time. It’s nice to know for new quilters like me. As I had some charm packs to use I have just used the traditional way making 2 at a time.

Moje ulubione HST / HST – best block ever!

Czy kiedykolwiek probowaliscie uszyc HST (trojkaty prostokatne na polu kwadratu)? To calkiem proste, nawet dla poczatkujacych. Prawdopodobnie dlatego ja je tak lubie. Chociaz sa rowniez inne powody: niezliczona ilosc roznych blokow jakie mozna uszyc, no i oczywiscie calkiem niezly wyglad.

Have you ever tried to make a half-square triangle (HST) block? It’s quite easy even for a beginner. That’s probably why I like it so much. Another really great thing about it that you can make a countless combinations of them. And pretty much they all look fantastic.

Praca w toku – pikowanie i lamowki / Work in progress – quilting and binding

Bardzo lubie myslec o nowych quiltach i cale to podekscytowanie, kiedy zaczynasz nowy project, wybierasz wzor, tkaniny, zaczynasz kroic i zszywac. I wtedy przychodzi to najtrudniejsze – skonczyc to, co sie zaczelo. Dlatego przez ostatni tydzien glownie pikowalam oba kremowo-niebieski batikowy i dinozaurowy quilt.

I love to think about new quilts. I love also the excitement, when you start a new project, choose the pattern, fabrics, start cutting and sewing. And then comes the most difficult – to finish it up. That’s why I have been only quilting the last week (cream and blue batik quilt as well as dinosaur quilt).
